On 3rd June 2012 about 1545 hours[1], 5N-RAM, a Boeing MD-83, a domestic scheduled commercial flight, operated by Dana Airlines Limited as flight 992 (DAN 992), crashed into a densely populated area during a forced landing following a total loss of power in both engines while on approach to Muhammed Murtala Airport (LOS), Lagos, Nigeria. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and the airplane was on an instrument flight plan. All of the 153 persons aboard the airplane, including the 6 crew members were fatally injured. There were 10 confirmed ground fatalities. The airplane was destroyed. There was post impact fire. The flight originated at Abuja (ABV) and the destination was LOS.

A father was arrested over the killing of three young girls in River Falls, Wisconsin, US on Tuesday, police said.
Police were called to a home on Morningside Avenue around 3:30 p.m. local time (4:30 p.m. ET) by the children's mother, who was concerned about their safety after she said the father made statements about their wellbeing.
When officers got there, they noticed the smell of gas in the home and found the bodies of three girls between the ages of five and 11.

A man has been arrested by the police in Ghana for allegedly offering his one-and-a-half-year-old son for sale at the Kokomba Market in Accra for GH¢200,000.The suspect, Mohammed Alhassan, 30, a resident of Sheshawu, near Tamale, was arrested in a hotel at Nungua where he had lured the 22-year-old mother of the child to enable him to steal the boy for the prospective buyer.

Bishop Oyedepo this morning won his N2 billion assault case in court after Justice Ojo of the Ogun State high court dismissed the case on the grounds that the application lacked merit and that the 'slapped lady' remains a ghost victim.

hundreds die scooping fuel as tanker explodes in Rivers State
At least 90 people including women and children were burnt to death early today Thursday July 12th while scooping fuel from a fallen tanker at Okobe in Ahoada West Local Government Area of Rivers State. The fuel tanker crashed into some vehicles and fell, spilling its content but didn't immediately burst into flames. Unfortunately it exploded when residents of the area went to the scene to scoop fuel from the tanker.

Mrs Jonathan and 17 others were appointed Perm Sec in the state civil service by the governor of Bayelsa State, Governor Seriake Dickson. The announcement was broadcast on the state radio station yesterday evening Wednesday July 11th.
Explaining their reason for the appointment, the senior special assistant to the governor on media affairs, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said that the First Lady was a teacher in the state's civil service and has been on leave of absence since 1999 to join her husband in his political service; first as a deputy governor, governor, vice president, then president. If not for the leave of absence, according to him, Mrs Jonathan would have risen to the status of a permanent secretary by now.

FG Insists that youth Corpers will be posted to Violent regions.
His positing supersedes an earlier concession granted to the affected corps members by the Director-General of the NYSC, Brig.-General Nnamdi Okore-Affia.
The DG, had in a statement on July 5 directed corps members posted to Yobe to proceed to Nasarawa State, while those scheduled to have their orientation in Borno were directed to Benue State.
The minister argued that the issue of posting of corps members to states other than their states of origin was enshrined in the relevant laws establishing the scheme.
