JTF kills two Boko Haram Members,intercepts eight rocket launchers


The Joint Task Force (JTF) in Borno, Operation Restore Order yesterday made a great interception as eight rocket launchers other equipment of mass destruction were recovered from the dreaded Boko Haram sect.
A statement by the spokesman of Joint Task Force Lt. Col Sagir Musa said the interception of the weapons was made around 9:00pm on Monday the 30th of July 2012 at Daban Masara a border village between Nigeria and Chad in Mongono local government area of the state.

Explosives found in university lecture hall in Kano

KANO (AFP) – An explosive device was found on Tuesday in lecture hall at a university in northern city just before students arrived for an examination, an official said.
The device planted in the lecture theatre at the Federal College of Education (FCE) in Kano was discovered by a campus security guard and dismantled before causing any damage.

MONEY MATTER: Pregnant lady swallows 51 wraps of cocaine

THERE couldn’t have been a  much more suitable adjective to describe the action of a middle-aged woman who threw caution to the winds and swallowed an astonishing 51 wraps of cocaine for  inexcusable reason of poverty than to describe it as ‘suicide’.
The 38 year-old woman from Oduma in Enugu State who resides in Brazil gave her name as Mbechi Obiageli Susan. She was arrested at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on her way from Sao Paulo, Brazil, by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, with the aid of a scanning machine.

Policeman goes berserk, shoots and kills two colleagues

A policeman at the Michika divisional headquarters in Adamawa was on Tuesday shot dead after shooting two of his colleagues who are now receiving treatment in the hospital, police spokesman Muhammed Ibrahim said.
An eye witness had told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Michika that the incident occurred around 7 am on Tuesday when the policeman, identified as Abba Gana, opened fire on his colleagues.

Bank driver arrested with 19 ATM cards,over N652,000

A bank driver has been arrested by the police in Lagos for alleged stealing.
Dare Oladujoye was held for being in possession of 19 Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) ATM cards and N652,000.Lagos Commissioner of Police Umar Manko said the suspect withdrew the money from an ATM machine.
He was using the cards to withdraw money from an ATM machine at Ogba branch of the GTB when a security guard raised the alarm.

Multiple blasts hit two Sokoto police stations

Multiple bomb blasts hit two police stations in separate parts of Sokoto yestherday moring. The attacks, according to police authorities, were carried out by suicide bombers suspected to be members of Boko Haram.

The first attack was targeted at the office of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 10, Sokoto, killing a police officer and injuring several policemen on duty. A second blast hit a police station located at Angwar Rago area of the state, killing the bomber and a lady hair dresser who was around the area when the bombs in the Volkswagen Golf salon car the suicide bomber was driving exploded.

Armed robbers dressed in police uniform at about 10 p.m.on Sunday at gunpoint snatched a car from the Editor, Nigerian Compass newspaper, Mr. Gabriel Akinadewo. (pictured above)
The editor, who was in his Toyota Avensis car, 2008 model marked Ogun CP 11 AKM, was returning from his office on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway when he ran into the road block mounted by the robbers in front of a new generation bank at Agidingbi, Ikeja, Lagos.

Trafficking: JTF intercepts vehicles with 103 children


Members of the Joint Task Force (JTF) stationed in Lokoja, Kogi, on Sunday intercepted 20 vehicles conveying more than 103 children, suspected to have been trafficked.
The JTF Commander, Lt-Col. Gabriel Olorunyomi, made this known to newsmen in Lokoja on Sunday.
He said that his men became curious when they discovered that the occupants of the vehicles were mostly children, accompanied by some men and women.

University Girl Commits Suicide Over Lost School Fees




Tragedy struck in Umuorii in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State penultimate week when a second year female student of a tertiary institution in the state, simply known as Blessing, killed herself after misplacing her school fees.
A family source who do not want his name in print told a source that Blessing after struggling to raise the sum of N30, 000 for her school fees could not find where she kept it.

REPORTS:Parents in Makurdi Sales their kids for N4,000


REPORTS have indicated that parents in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, were involved in the sale of their children to human traffickers at the sum of N4,000 or N5,000 per ward.

This was revealed when the Quick Response Group Team of the Nigerian Army in Lokoja arrested one human trafficking suspect, Mr. Sunday Agbo, from Benue state.

13 die on Benin-Ore road


No fewer than 13 passengers died in a motor accident on the Benin-Ore road, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) confirmed on Sunday.


In a statement issued by Mr Bisi Kazeem, Deputy Corps Public Education Officer, the commission stated that the accident happened at kilometre 53, before Ohosun town, zone 5.12 toll gate unit command in Edo State at 7.45 a.m on Sunday.
