Tragedy struck in Umuorii in Owerri North Local Government Area of Imo State penultimate week when a second year female student of a tertiary institution in the state, simply known as Blessing, killed herself after misplacing her school fees.
A family source who do not want his name in print told a source that Blessing after struggling to raise the sum of N30, 000 for her school fees could not find where she kept it.
Her poor parents, according to the source, were incapable of providing another money for her as her father was already bedridden in a hospital.
Blessing may have concluded that she could not get the lost fees from anywhere and decided to commit suicide by taking an overdose of a local insecticide called “ota pia pia”, the source said.
She was said to have died before arriving at a hospital where she was taken to. Meanwhile her corpse has been deposited in the mortuary.
