A day after Female sprinters put a smile on the face of Nigerians in the Olympics 100m qualifiers, Nigerian male entries, Obinna Metu, Peter Emelieze and Ogho-Oghene Omano Egwero, crashed out in the heats of the 100m race.
Egwero was the first to take to the track in Heat 4 and placed 6th in a time of 10.38s.The heat was won by Olympic champion and world record holder, Usain Bolt in 10.09s. Metu who ran in lane 5 in Heat 5, placed 5th with a slightly better time of 10.35.
The heat was won by former world record holder, Asafa Powell in 10.04s.
Nigeria's third entrant, Emelieze also placed 5th in his heat, which was won by reigning world champion, Yohan Blake, in 10s flat.
The men's performance was woeful compared to the women, who have Blessing Okagbare and Gloria Asumnu taking part in the semi-finals of the 100m later Saturday evening.
