Muslim school in jos targeted by rocket
A 10-year-old boy has died after a rocket propelled Grenade was fired at a school in the Nigerian city of Jos but missed and hit a nearby building, officials say.The school authorities say the boy was not a pupil at the large co-educational institution owned by the city's Muslim community.The BBC's Ishaq Khalid in Jos says the students were sitting their exams at the time of the blast.Jos has witnessed years of inter-ethnic and religious violence.
The city is the capital of Plateau state, which lies on the fault line between Nigeria's mainly Muslim north and Christian and animist south.

Chinese Nationals kill eachother
Four Chinese nationals in Kano (Northern Nigeria), last weekend engaged in bloody combat that claimed the life of two of them.
The incident, which occurred at a house in Kwanar Ganduje industrial zone of the municipality, was brought to the notice of the police, which intervention came too late.
Kano Police Commissioner, Alhaji Ibrahim Idris, told reporters, yesterday, that a crack police team sent to the scene found one Xusheng Kun, male, critically injured, while another, identified by his alias, Old Man, also sustained life-threatening injury.

Man, 56, arrested over rape of school pupil
A 56-year-old man, simply identified as Moses, has been arrested by officials of the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) over alleged rape of 11-year-old primary school pupil in Osogbo, the state capital.
The suspect, who was earlier detained at the state command of the NSCDC had been transferred to the State Investigation and Intelligent Bureau (SIIB) of the state police command for further investigation.
Moses, who lived in Osogbo, was alleged to have raped other young girls in the area. The Assistant Commandant of NSCDC, Mr. Idima Augustine said Moses was arrested in Olorunda Local Government Area of the state after a tip-off by a non-governmental organization (NGO.

BARELY 24 hours after he was declared winner of the Saturday governorship poll, Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, said he would have won with a wider margin. The governor said this on Monday after a dramatic appearance at the Presidential Villa.
Oshiomhole arrived at the Council Chambers while the swearing-in of the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Aloma Mukhtar, was rounding off and stood at the entrance where attendees at the inauguration of Mukhtar congratulated the re-elected Edo governor for his victory at the poll.
Dignitaries, including minister and chieftains of the Peoples Democratic Party whose candidate was defeated in the election, took turns to shake hands with Oshiomhole.

8 dead in Enugu Auto Crash
No fewer than eight persons have lost their lives in an auto crash that occurred along the Enugu-Nsukka single-carriage way.
Three of the eight victims in the accident which took place weekend, were burnt beyond recognition.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the accident in a statement yesterday, said the vehicles involved a DAF trailer with registration number XE460AWK and a Ford Bus with registration number XA435KC.

Police recover 46 explosive devices from a building in Okene
Police in Kogi on Monday announced the recovery of 46 Improvised Explosive Devices, and the arrest of a suspect from a residential building during an overnight operation.
Commissioner of Police Mohammed Katsina told newsmen in Lokoja that the recovery was made in Okaito area when a man suspected to have detonated the explosives near a church in Okene on Sunday, led the police to the apartment.
He described the building as "an intriguing and disgusting deceit’’.
According to him, two of the rooms in the four-bedroom apartment had been converted to a mosque and a church.

82-year Old Man marries 70-year Old Bride in Kano Mass wedding
An 82 year old Malam Uba Abdul-Rahman hooked up with his 70-year-old bride yesterday.
Abdul-Rahman, who was among the new couples, spoke on behalf of the beneficiaries, thanked the state government for the support given to them and said that he was happy for finding a 70-year old partner to spend the rest of his life with after the demise of his wife.
In a grand event held at the Kano Central Mosque, representatives of the couples agreed to unite the spouses together after a dowry of N10,000 was paid to each of the bride.
