Falana demands identity of VIP who closed airspace and delayed landing for 30 minutes

 
Popular lawyer and human rights activist, Femi Falana, has demanded that the federal government reveal the identity of the VIP whose movement caused a partial closure of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja, last Tuesday.
Falana, who was on an Arik Air Flight W3 271, said the plane stayed in the air for an extra 30 minutes after it approached Abuja from Lagos because the airspace was closed.

Nigerian football player slumps and dies during match

 
Niyi Lawal (pictured above) died yesterday June 20th during a tournament in Odogbolu LGA of Ogun State. The late footballer, who was a player with Wonder Star Football Club, slumped during a match yesterday without having contact with anybody. He was rushed to the hospital where he was confirmed dead.

Lawal was 26. He had a wife and two children. May his soul rest in peace...amen.

Decomposed body of kidnapped PDP Chieftain found In Kabba

 
Chief Aliu Olorunpomi was abducted by gunmen on Saturday June 16th at his Happy Hour Parks and Garden resort in Kabba, Kogi State. They took him away in his car and never contacted his family for ransom. His decomposing body was found this morning beside his car at Okehi LGA of Kogi State.

'Enough is Enough' - Ex Niger-Delta Militants to Boko Haram

 
The Ex-Niger Delta militants have demanded an end to the acts of terror in the North.


They also urged the Federal Government to stop treating the group with kid gloves.

KADUNA VIOLENCE: Killings continue as rioters defy curfew

 

KADUNA — Heavy fighting, killings and burning of property continued, yesterday, in Hausa/Fulani dominated parts of Kaduna, as the minority non-Muslims in the areas tried to fight back despite the 24-hour curfew imposed over the entire state. This came as Pope Benedict XVI has appealed to those responsible for the violence to stop spilling innocent blood.


As the battle raged, trapped residents who were unable to leave their homes as a result of the 24-hour curfew imposed by the government have cried out saying they were running out of food, medicine and water.

Farouk Lawan promises to surrender N93m bribe


Embattled lawmaker, Farouk Lawan, has finally promised to surrender the $500,000 bribe to the Special Task Force before the end of the week following serious psychological and physical pressures mounted on him by investigators.




It was learnt that Lawan succumbed to the pressure mounted him by the STF Commissioner of Police, Ali Ahmodu, on Wednesday and agreed to bring the money which he was said to have received from Femi Otedola on April 24, 2012.

Students. who on Monday resumed lectures after suspension of academic activities by the University Senate vowed to continue the protest until the name, UNILAG is restored. Nevertheless, classes were opened for lectures and hostels for returning students.

Imo govt threatens to sue DANA Air


IMO State Government yesterday threatened to sue Dana Airline over the death of 33 indigenes of the state in the plane crash of June 3 in Lagos.


Governor Rochas Okorocha who spoke during an inter-denominational memorial service for the victims, also announced a N50 million lifeline to bereaved families who were involved in the ill-fated crash.
Okorocha said the government and people of Imo were saddened by the incident and directed his Deputy, Mr Jude Agbaso, and the Attorney-General, Mr Soronnadi Njoku, to commence action on the matter immediately
