Blast outside Abuja nightclub after security chiefs’ sack
ABUJA (AFP) – A blast went off outside a nightclub in the capital city Abuja hours after the national security adviser and defence minister were sacked amid fears over spiralling violence in the country’s north.
No casualties were reported in the explosion late Friday. Windows in the nightclub, a bank and a barber shop were shattered and a number of cars were damaged.
Kaduna residents flee in numbers
The exodus of residents of Kaduna state on friday, followed the relaxation of the 24-hour curfew imposed on the state as a result of the current outbreak of violence in which many people were killed.
The state governor, Patrick Yakowa, had on Thursday in a statewide broadcast relaxed the 24-hour curfew by four hours to allow Muslims to observe their Friday prayers.

Dealers in counterfeit drugs to get life imprisonment – DG, NAFDAC
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control, NAFDAC, has finalised plans to present a bill to the National Assembly, prescribing life imprisonment for dealers in counterfeit drugs.
The proposed bill will also prescribe the confiscation of the property of offenders aside other fines.

Adegoke Kehinde, a student of Yaba College of Technology, Akoka, Yaba, Lagos State, Southwest Nigeria, has been arrested by the police for allegedly drugging and raping a female student (name withheld) on campus.
The 24-year old Kehinde has been charged before the Yaba Magistrate’s court on a two-count charge of rape and assault.

Seven suspected Boko Haram men alleged to have masterminded the attack on Ekklizivar Yan’uwa A Nigeria (EYN) Church in Biu, Borno State recently said they were paid N7, 000 each to carry out the attack which left no fewer than three worshipers dead.
One of the seven suspects, Ibrahim Mohammed Babangida, who spoke with journalists from his custody said one Magaji Bala, a butcher paid N7, 500 to him as his engagement fee to carry out the dastard act.
Bomb Scare In Abuja, Offices Evacuate Staff
Offices have been evacuated over fears that a deadly explosive had been planted in a location in the city centre.
The Wuse Zone 5 area of Abuja is in chaos, as organizations scramble to evacuate staff, after information spread of a perceived bomb in the area.
The explosive device is believed to be planted between Top View Hotel and the headquarters of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps office in the area.
The area also has the headquarters of the People’s Democratic Party, banks, and the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
A witness, who works with FIRS told PREMIUM TIMES that the entire area has been evacuated and the police anti-bomb squad alerted. He said heavy traffic has built up in the area, movement restricted to one lane.
“We are waiting for the anti bomb squad to either detonate it or declare the area safe,” the witness said.
