NFF reduces Super Eagles bonus, coaches salaries

The Nigeria Football Federation has taken a very significant step to curtail overhead cost in the administration of football in the country. The Technical and Development Committee of the federation, which met in Abuja on Tuesday, recommended for immediate implementation, a list of decisions that would substantively cut down the cost of prosecuting games involving the national teams.

One of the major decisions is the review of the salaries of all the national team coaches, including that of Super Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi. The PUNCH learnt that every coach in the employment of the federation would be affected as soon as the implementation begins. The players themselves were not spared in the latest decision. Their win bonus, which was raised to $10,000 some years ago has been cut down to $5,000. The bonus became an issue after the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa as the NFF could not pay the final game bonus after it was nearly doubled from the pre-tournament rate.

Mrs Obama describes herself as a 'busy single mum'

US First Lady,Michelle Obama recently raised eyebrows when she described herself as a 'busy single mum' during an interview with a Vermont CBS station.

She caught her mistake immediately and explained: "You know, when you've got the husband who's president, it can feel a little single, but he's there,". She then described herself as 'busy working mom."

Michelle was answering questions about the difficulties that working parents can have when they try to balance their office lives with their home lives. "Before coming to the White House, I was in that position," she confessed. "Working, driving kids to practice, not having enough time to shop or cook, not having the energy." President Jonathan to Grant Amnesty to Boko Haram

After several months of accusations and counter accusation between the Presidency and stakeholders in the north on the emergence of Boko Haram Islamic sect and the issue of granting amnesty to its members, the Federal government, yesterday, took a major step towards granting them amnesty as it set up a committee to look at the feasibility or otherwise of the programme.

The terms of reference of the committee are:

*To consider the feasibility or otherwise of granting pardon to the Boko Haram adherents,
*Collate clamours arising from different interest groups who want the apex government to administer clemency on members of the religious sect; and
*To recommend modalities for the granting of the pardon, should such step become the logical one to take under the prevailing circumstance.
